Annabel

Annabel, a manatee who liked turquoise better than teal, had had it with Florida. The environmental abuse, the humidity, the voter suppression, and the long lines of snowbirds at the all-you-can-eat buffet. It was just too much. She had to admit, though, that the flight connections out of Miami were pretty good. Four years ago, she had caught a direct flight to Boise, Idaho. Her high school boyfriend, a monarch butterfly, named Danny, had moved there after graduation. Nowadays, he was a dentist in Livingston, Montana. Still, Annabel had always thought of herself as the one who got away.
