Annabel, a manatee who liked turquoise better than teal, had had it with Florida. The environmental abuse, the humidity, the voter suppression, and the long lines of snowbirds at the all-you-can-eat buffet. It was just too much. Her high school boyfriend, a monarch butterfly, named Danny, had moved there after graduation. Nowadays, he was a dentist in Livingston, Montana. Still, Annabel had always thought of herself as the one who got away.
