Behold the Presence



“Don’t make any sudden moves,” my husband says, “you might scare it away.”

It is one of those rare moments when it has found its way into the living room and seem willing to socialize, though only if certain non-negotiable demands are met; it gets to choose what is watched on the TV, or alternately the offscreen activity and the music listened to while pursuing said analog undertaking.

“Should we order it some pizza to get it to stay?” I whisper out the side of my mouth as we both behold the presence of the teenager in our midst.
