Jealousy & Envy



“I’m so jealous,” Miranda, a camel with only half a hump, who had dropped out of elementary school to start a career in drought-resistant flower binding, said to her friend, Bibi. “You always find the right words, and I can’t even remember my name most of the time.”

“Well,” said Bibi, a rainbow trout who was a stickler for timeliness and straightening the fringes on rugs. “Technically, you are envious because that is wishing to have something you don’t, whereas being jealous is feeling afraid of losing something or someone you already have, insofar you can have another being.”
