It was a busy time for annoyance. Dishwashers broke and flooded kitchens. Flights from the southwest were delayed or canceled. People were faced with the consequences of their choices and misunderstood each other on and off purpose. There was nothing unusual in any of this, but there was a general expectation that annoyance would be present at all these events because it happened right now. And as we often meet our own expectations of disappointment, regret, inconvenience, and existential meh, annoyance found itself stranded in an airport next to a soon-to-be-divorced office supply salesman called Sweaty Bob from Barstow.
