Nanette

Nanette, a duck who was applying for a job in Brazillian cruise ship entertainment, debated with herself whether she should send her plate back to the kitchen. On one wing, the kale in her salad was in dire need of a massage and tasted way too much of kale. On the other wing, it made Nanette uncomfortable to ask for changes because she didn’t want to come off as difficult. That was why it had taken her twenty-two years to leave her husband, Lenny, an otter who favored the cello and constantly derided Nanette’s sister for her waterbird-like disposition.
