Steven, a pug who recently had stopped drinking out of the toilet because his dentist had lost consciousness after asking him if he remembered to floss, was worried that his casual relationship with the Roomba was turning into more of a commitment. Steven had always prided himself on not needing to ask anyone for permission to play vodka rummy with his friend Ursula, a Hollandse Herdershond, on Mondays and Thursdays except when Ursula was in heat. But twice in a row, he had noticed the Roomba waiting for him by the guest bathroom as if they had a date.
